About US

PTC as we're known locally have been in operation for 24 years now.
We are a non profit Community Theatre Company and we all do it for love not money. We
started out as a splinter group from Warringah Music Theatre Company, to
give members a chance to act in plays and enhance their dramatic skills,
without having to worry about "two left feet" or being "tone deaf".

Our first venue was at the "Old Gym" which was part of the Narrabeen High
School. When the "Gym" was taken over by a gymnastics group, it was no
longer a suitable venue for PTC, funny that. We moved around the corner to
the North Narrabeen Community and Tennis Centre, which has an intimate stage
and seating for up to 90 patrons. It also means we can rehearse on the stage
area for the full run of rehearsals, instead of moving from hall to hall.
Since our inception, we have been proud to produce over 60 plays, which have
included comedy, drama, mystery, murder, black comedy, cabaret and even a
theatre restaurant. Some of the titles include"The Good Doctor","Mojo","Dead White Males","The New Deal"."Boys Night In" "Caravan", "The John Wayne
Principle", "Travelling North", "Gasping", "Silly Cow", "Pride and
Prejudice", "Much Ado About Nothing", "Taming of the Shrew","The Importance of Being Earnest""Twelfth Night" and many, many
more plays by both well known and local playwrights. More recently we have
taken on a pledge to try and produce a local play, by a local writer at least once a year and
have recently produced "Open for Inspection", "My Henry Lawson" and "Manly Mates",
all by Rozelle playwright Frank Hatherley. As well as a new play"Boys Night in" by Richard Womack and "The New Deal"l by James Balian

We produce two plays at Narrabeen and one at Manly 's Star oif the Sea Theatre a year

We are always looking for new members ,so if you are interetsted in joining and getting involved, you will not regret it.Whether its Lights and Sound,Costumes,Directing,Front of House or of course Acting ,you will make some great new friends and have fun.

AUDITIONS FOR 2009 PRODUCTION OF CLARA BOOTHE LUCE '

THE WOMEN

AUDITION INFO-Auditions will be Feb 2nd and 5th at Narrabeen Community Centre 2-10 Woorarra Avenue North Narrabeen at 8pm.PLease email director henryjennings@mac.com with CV and/or headshot if possible and let him know what night you prefer.

Audition will consist of some cold reads of scenes and monologues if you have them.

Rehearsals will start the following weekk depending on casting and will be Monday and Thursdays at Narrabeen and the show is playing at the Star of The Sea Theatre on Manly in June.

All roles available and some doubles!!

PTC is pleased to have acquired the rights to the play The Women by Clara Boothe Luce.

The show will be from the 4th June to 20th at Star of the Sea in Manly running for 10 shows...Thursday Friday Saturday and two matinees(maybe) on Sunday.

The play will be directed by Henry Jennings with Sheree Atkins and Lisa Woodward as ADs

Henry has directed 6 plays for PTC whilst Lisa and Sheree are both experienced actors and drama teachers.

The play concerns the exploits of society women and their friends in New York in 1939.It is a witty, funny and at times acidic look at their lives and loves and the writing resonates still today and is regarded by some as comparable to Oscar Wilde or Noel Coward. It is a great piece with many characters and requires actors who can double roles and can do a US accent.(or at least willing to give it a go!)This is community theatre after all and for anyone who is interested there will be help on hand for accent work,so don't let that put you off auditioning.

It is an all girl cast and age ranges from young to old so plenty for everyone. We are looking for 14 actors to bring this beautiful piece to life.We can reward actors with fun and comraderie and a great experience. We do it for fun after all!!

If you are a man don't despair there will be plenty to get stuck into later in the year or maybe you want to help out behind the stage or even get "dragged" up(would certainly consider this for one role of an older lady!!)

Auditions will be held on Monday 2nd Feb and Thursday 5th Feb at the hall in Narrabeen from 8pm.Please email me for more details if you would like to audition.

If you have a monologue please bring it in to audition with otherwise it will be cold reads and some improvisation.

This project will be a lot of fun and playing multiple roles is always a great experience. There are big roles and smaller roles if you have not the time or feel a little daunted, dont worry there will be something for everyone...as long as you are a girl...or want to dress up as one!!!!

Please pass it on to anyone who you feel may be up for it and we look forward to seeing you at the auditions in Feb.Rehearsals will be Monday and Thursday nights starting the following week.

There is also a great film version of the play directed by the great George Cukor and starring Norma Shearer,Joan Crawford,Rosalind Russell and Paulette Goddard as well as the remake from Director Diane English made in 2008 with Meg Ryan,Annette Benning and Eva Mendes.

See you in February!!!
