Synopsis

“Boys’ Night In” is a chaotic crime comedy about a framed victim desperately trying to clear himself before the crime is discovered. The ‘detectives’ are a gay couple cohabiting in the company flat of a very puritan boss. The suspects include a couple of prostitutes on-the-job and a youth trying to hide from his mother that she’s paying. It’s then confused by a mass murderer and a healthy dose of collusion, illusion and confusion. — In short, your typical family farce.

This is either a ‘Whodunnit” packed with laughs, or a farce precariously perched on suspense.

REVIEWS

“I laughed so much I did myself an injury !”
Tom, c/o Mona Vale Hospital.

“I disown you !”

“He did absolutely NO research.”
Richard’s wife.

“A must see rollicking laugh ride that we’ll enjoy doing.”
PTC Selection Committee

“The best, funniest and most enjoyable new Australian play of the decade.”
Anticipated Sydney Morning Herald assessment.

“I set out to explore the extremes of sexual behaviour and the clash of sexual opposites.
But during the development of situations to expose these differences, the fun of the characters I’d created took over, and their humour ran riot through my serious intent. The result is a chaotic comedy leaning dangerously towards farce; a politically suspect romp into impossible situations and even more improbable solutions.” Author.

Local playwrite Richard Womack is already infamous for abusing the laughter potential of the Peninsula with over 20 of his comedies being broadcast by Radio Northern Beaches ( 88.7 and 90.3 ) and a selection published in “Listen Hear !”. He won the Tamworth 2000 Dramafest with “Year Nothing” and “Alexander’s Carrot” has been performed at Glen Street Theatre. This play incorporates his extensive experience as a comedy actor and seasoned director, and his delight of the absurd and ludicrous.
